Nyxia is very character driven, which I usually love, but I really just needed more of the world to actually care about what was going on with the characters. I really wanted to like this book, but it needed more worldbuilding for me to fall in love with it. This needs a content warning for character death, torture and evil corporate overlords. I received an eARC of Nyxia via Netgalley, courtesy of Crown Books for Young Readers, in exchange for an honest review. Not exclusive to Christianity, but certainly a very important part of it. A strong one in this first book would be the idea of mercy.

Lewis (who did a lot of direct analogy), I try to write with themes that reflect what I believe. So rather than writing in the tradition of someone like C.S. Babel's whole endeavor really draws on that story of man wanting to build his way to God (or become Him). As for the references, I think the Bible is pretty rich ground for allusions, comparisons, etc. So while I am personally a Christian, the book itself is following a character who most likely is not.
